Having three or more nipples is also called supernumerary nipples. Patients with an extra nipple have a condition called polythelia or polymastia. The third nipple occurs within 4-5 weeks of development as an embryo. Extra nipples are smaller than regular nipples. We recommend having an initial consultation with Dr. Rosenberg to discuss surgical removal. If you’re a candidate for an accessory third nipple removal, you’ll be scheduled for surgery with Dr. Rosenberg in our Beverly Hills office.

The Procedure

The treatment is quick and performed as an outpatient procedure, involving minimal incisions and the removal of excess breast, fat, and skin tissue. The procedure is performed using local anaesthesia and can be completed in an hour or less. Dr. Rosenberg uses advanced techniques to leave minimal scars. There’s minimal downtime, and we’ll provide you with the aftercare instructions. If swelling occurs, it subsides within a few weeks, and peak results appear within six months.
