Breast Reconstruction
The Breast Reconstruction we provide will give you natural results after a breast removal procedure. The treatment is started and quickly performed after mastectomy resulting in a new breast mound. Dr. Rosenberg uses avant-garde technology to construct your breast with minimal discomfort and optimal results. Alternatively, breast reconstruction may start years after mastectomy depending on the timing of radiation and chemotherapy regimens.
The advantages of this treatment include:
- Achieves breast symmetry and balance
- Regains self-esteem and restores a sense of femininity
- Avoids the use of an external prosthesis
- Corrects deformity caused by recent procedures from another provider
- Diminishes the constant reminder of their breast cancer
The Treatment
At your initial consultation, Dr. Rosenberg will ask questions about your health and goals for the procedure. We’ll determine the best applicable surgical option for you based on your condition. We strive to make a long-term partnership with patients and develop a customized treatment plan to achieve your desired results. The procedure is performed in several stages and throughout a precise number of months. The first stage consists of placing a tissue expander beneath your chest muscles. Gradually saline fluid is added to inflate the expander and stretch the skin. The skin and muscles will be stretched to make space for the placement of the breast implants. The second stage consists of placing the implant after the expander is removed from the treated area. The implant can be filled with saline or silicone gel. The gel implants provide a subtle natural result, while the saline implant provides drastic enhancements. The third stage consists of the reconstruction of your nipple and areola. The skin from the central portion of the breast is used to regenerate the nipple structure. This is performed as surgery a few weeks after implant insertion.
