QWO – Cellulite Injection
Cellulite is a natural occurrence millions of people experience over the course of their lives. While women are more likely to develop cellulite, many men see cellulite and stretch marks appear on their bodies as well. If your eyes immediately go to the cellulite on your body and the sight instantly makes you shudder, you’ve probably gone to great lengths to try and correct the skin condition.
While we adamantly believe all bodies are beautiful and cellulite is a natural part of life, we fully empathize with the desire to bring the dimpling down a notch. Feeling comfortable in your skin can sometimes start with feeling as good about your outside as you do your inside.
We’ve seen the creams, the scrubs, the oils, and the workouts — and some of us have used them! That’s why we’re so excited to announce the newest injectable to our lineup, QWO®, a first-of-its-kind treatment designed to smooth dimpling on the butt area of women.
That is why you need to consider a minimally invasive procedure such as QWO® cellulite injections. With an injectable, you have the ability to take back your body and your confidence. Here is what you need to know about the QWO® cellulite injections.
What Exactly is QWO®?
QWO® is an injectable used to treat cellulite. It is currently the only FDA-approved injectable treatment for this specific purpose. It is designed to help break down and disrupt the fibrous septae, which is the cause of cellulite (and one of the reasons why the skin becomes bumpy and dimpled here).
The injection uses two enzymes that will degrade collagen molecules. During the procedure, QWO® will be injected under the dimple of your cellulite. This will then begin to corrupt the collagen and cause the fibrous septae to separate and depress. This, in turn, will cause the dimpling to smooth and lower, giving you the smooth-looking skin you’ve been seeking.
Are There Any Side Effects?
In general, reported side effects are mild. Some patients have said they’ve experienced some slight swelling at the injection site, but this is common for nearly all injectables (especially when used for the first time). There are others who have said some slight contour irregularity occurs. Because it is not possible to know exactly how your skin will react to the QWO®, there is a chance the skin might tighten to the point of contouring, although this is only temporary. If you opt for the injection and this does happen, you should make a note of it and talk to your skincare professional about it. This way, should you decide to receive another injection, the amount used can be altered.
How Long Does The Injection Last
Similar to other injections, this is a long-lasting solution to the skin condition. It is a new technique, so the exact length of time for which you’ll remain cellulite-free will depend on a number of factors, but the injection will likely last you for several years. This way, you won’t need to go back in to have the area treated again for some time.
This is an outpatient procedure and, as is the case with other injectable cosmetic treatments, you’ll be able to drive home and do everything else you might typically do (although you might feel sore at the injection site for a few hours, depending on how your body is able to handle needles). So you can easily schedule the QWO® injection to fit into your schedule.
